Learn ASL ("the app") helps you learn American Sign Language through interactive lessons, camera-based practice, and quizzes. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Camera data (processed on-device). When you practice signs, the camera feed is analyzed locally on your device to detect hand landmarks. Video frames and images are never sent to our servers, stored, or shared.
- Learning progress. Your lessons, practice results, streaks, and quiz scores are stored on your device to track your progress.
- Analytics. We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect anonymous usage information such as feature usage and session statistics, so we can improve the app.
- Crash reports. We use Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect crash logs and basic device information (model, OS version) to help us fix bugs.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe, your purchase is processed by the App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. We receive an anonymous identifier and your subscription status — never your payment details.
How We Use Information
- Provide and personalize lessons, practice, and progress tracking.
- Understand how the app is used and improve its features.
- Diagnose crashes and technical issues.
- Manage subscriptions and unlock premium features.
What We Don't Do
- We do not collect your name, contacts, location, or photos.
- We do not record, store, or upload camera video or images.
- We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We do not show third-party advertising.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following providers, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
- Apple App Store / Google Play (payment processing)
Data Retention
Learning progress stays on your device and is removed if you delete the app. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by Google Firebase according to their standard retention periods.
Children's Privacy
The app is suitable for learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
